I'm obsessed...
I just got home from Little Shop, and I've been meaning to share this video with people, it is so amazing I have watched it several times and I'm still not done.
"I punched that pigeon in the face, I was like listen pigeon this is a recession go on your stoop" lol
I saw Leslie Kritzer in "A Catered Affair" on broadway and she was really fantastic, but it was totally different than this -- she can do comedy too!! Brills

Edges: A Song Cycle at Revival Bar in Toronto!
Hello. Hi. How are you? You look kinda gay... (or whatever the lyric is...)I just got back from seeing "Edges: A Song Cycle" by Pasek and Paul here in Toronto. I've been meaning to see it for weeks now, but I've always had rehearsals/other plans when the show was playing (Sunday & Monday nights). And I bet your thinking "Corey, Little Shop opens on Wednesday, how did you find time now?" Well, we rehearsed all day, and I got off right at 630pm in time to walk over to catch Edges. It just worked out, for some reason this week and I am so glad it did.
First off, I am not only a huge fan of Pasek and Paul but of most contemporary musical theatre composers, I find that their work is often trivialized as being simple or lacking depth - which is so not the case in this show. I'm happy to see professional theatre companies, like Acting Upstage, taking chances on new works in the musical theatre world from new composers (unlike Finn's Song Cycle which a lot of theatres did once Spelling Bee made it big on b'way). Why not do a show based on the music instead of the "name" attached to it? When it is a musical choice based on quality writing, this production of Edges happens where you can see that every performer is living moment to moment on that stage, and is passionate about what they are singing.
I remember thinking a few months ago when I sang "Boy with Dreams" at school, "why has this show not been done in Toronto? Because I would go see that." And I kept my [mental] word. remember this? seems like SOO long ago..
It was wonderful, I loved the space, the actors, music, and everything. Random moments were when Sara came onstage and started singing my sister leans in to say "OOO she's good", also we were seated in this spot of the theatre where I think the actors had a "mark" to look at like around our heads or something because they "raped us with their eyes" [my sister's quote! LOL].
It was a wonderful show, and I commend them for taking a chance on this new musical with new composers, with a new voice, and something original to say.
If you have not seen this show yet [like myself who waited until the last minute] it is not too late. There are 3 performances left - and who doesn't have time in DECEMBER right? - Monday the 1st, Sun 7th, and Mon 8th. Seriously, go see it, then come back and thank me for changing your life... slash getting to see a really good show too.
Ticket are $25, and $15 for students. Seriously, $15 that's like an uh-may-zing price to see a great show. Its like 10 times that to see "The Sound of Music" and last I checked the von Trapp children don't have facebook- so just go see EDGES at the Revival bar in Toronto.
